A knock is a check, not an invitation. The official how-to-play line is cameras, listening, opening for real help, and the porch light when something is off.
Order that avoids a rushed open
- Stop the chore. Do not finish a long kitchen timer while someone is at the door.
- Look through the front-door glass and let the visitor finish talking.
- If the request names the house, go verify it: cat by the parents' bed, oven, bathroom water, or kitchen sink.
- Open the laptop. Check the normal view, then night vision, then the backyard or car camera when that visitor uses it.
- Keep sound on. The Wifi Kid and several voice checks are audio.
- Open the door only for a matching safe sign. Otherwise turn the porch light off. The switch is to the right of the front door.
Two calls that are not guesses
- The Vampire has no documented safe version. Refuse the pale visitor in the high collar who asks to come in for tea.
- The Next Door Neighbour, also described as the Camera Woman, is reported as someone you should let in. Refusing her sends her to punch the camera off the wall by the car, and that refusal is tied to a Sanity loss.
When the sources disagree
City Maintenance, the Old Man, and the Drunk Girl do not have one sentence that every July guide repeats. Those three are marked on the visitor tells page. A later visitor with no published tell is not automatically safe and is not automatically the Vampire rule either. Use the general check above and the later visitors list.
Update 5 added camera zoom and pan plus a visitor index. Zoom does not replace the room check. A cat color, oven smoke, or a vehicle outside still has to be seen in the house or on the right camera.
